It’s allergy season!

But if you suffer from seasonal allergies, you already knew that because you’ve been taking anti-histamines to calm down your immune system.

This over active state of our immune system is stressful to our bodies, and we know how detrimental stress can be to our health.

This over active immune system just adds to our already stressed out bodies due to life in general (work, relationships, environment, etc). This causes a chronic inflammatory state in our bodies.

Even the food we eat contribute to this inflamed state. I’m not talking about organic vs non organic, but the actual food itself because of its innate histamine content.

Here’s a list of these foods. Notice that many are considered “healthy”:

> Fermented alcoholic beverages, especially wine, champagne and beer
> Fermented foods: sauerkraut, vinegar, soy sauce, kefir, yogurt, kombucha, etc
> Vinegar-containing foods: pickles, mayonnaise, olives
> Cured meats: bacon, salami, pepperoni, luncheon meats and hot dogs
> Soured foods: sour cream, sour milk, buttermilk, soured bread, etc
> Dried fruit: apricots, prunes, dates, figs, raisins
> Most citrus fruits
> Aged cheese including goat cheese
> Nuts: walnuts, cashews, and peanuts
> Vegetables: avocados, eggplant, spinach, and tomatoes
> Smoked fish and certain species of fish: mackerel, mahi-mahi, tuna, anchovies, sardines

And here are some histamine-Releasing Foods:

* Alcohol
* Bananas
* Chocolate
* Cow’s Milk
* Nuts
* Papaya
* Pineapple
* Shellfish
* Strawberries
* Tomatoes
* Wheat Germ
* Many artificial preservatives and dyes

Knowing this information is important if you have genetic mutations that predispose you to being in an inflammatory state.
