I’m not a very patient person.  Impatience

I don’t want to spend an hour doing a workout.

I  don’t want to wait for my food to cook.

I want to want what I want and I want it NOW! (yeah, you’ll need to read that sentence again slowly in order to get it, because it’s not a typo or grammatical error).

But often times, we can’t get results immediately.  We need patience.  We need to give ourselves time…then we need to give ourselves more time.

I would have to say that I’m pretty healthy…my entire family is pretty healthy because that is the lifestyle that we’ve chosen to create.  But it didn’t happen overnight.  In fact it has been a personal journey of mine for the past 6 years and my family has come along for the ride (fortunately).

Over the past 6 years, I learned a lot about health, nutrition and exercise.  I’ve also learned a lot about healthcare…and admittedly, I’m not very happy with what I’ve learned about the professional field that I chose to be part of.

What I’ve found is that all of this information that I’ve learned has very slowly shaped who I am, what I do and how I do it.  I’ve discovered through some trial and error, what works for me and what doesn’t.  I’ve created a sort of “blueprint” for my healthy lifestyle.

These aren’t “rules” that I’ve created.  Instead it’s a framework that I know I can go back to whenever I feel (and see) that something is off.  Usually for me it’s the appearance of being squishy…and my pants fit me differently (meaning that they’ve become a little snug).  That’s when I start becoming acutely aware of what I am doing and what I’m not doing.

I tell this to the women that I work with all the time.  My goal is to help create a blueprint for your life.  This can be a blueprint for your physical appearance and your emotional health.  You will “fall off” the course and that’s ok because there is a blueprint that’s been created for you to refer back to.

Your healthy lifestyle is a journey.  Sometimes you take the direct route because you want to get to your destination ASAP and other times you take the more scenic route, but your end destination is the same.  So I invite you to embrace that journey you are on but don’t forget to enjoy some of the scenery.
